Michael Huertas

Operations Coordinator
ABANA

I am an established nonprofit and communications professional with experience supporting operations, membership coordination, event planning, and organizational strategy within 501(c)(3) and 501(c)(6) institutions. I currently serve as the Operations Coordinator at ABANA and The ABANA Foundation in New York City, the leading U.S. association for finance professionals and institutions with an interest in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) region. In this role, I contribute to the administration and execution of programs, events, fundraising efforts, and internal processes that support the organization’s mission.

My role requires a high level of coordination across departments and functions, with a focus on organizational efficiency, membership servicing, and logistical planning for events and partnerships. I bring a detail-oriented and solutions-driven approach to my work, consistently supporting team objectives and contributing to the organization’s overall growth. I have supported efforts that resulted in over $1 million in funds raised and led targeted campaigns that contributed to significant growth in membership engagement.

I hold a Bachelor of Arts in Communication and Media Studies from Pace University, where I graduated cum laude and was the recipient of the Provost’s Undergraduate Research Award. While at Pace, I served as the Student Representative for the Dyson School of Arts and Sciences Communications Department’s Committee for New Hires. I also served as the Secretary for Lambda Pi Eta (LPH), the National Communication Association’s official honor society, and reinstated the society on campus.

With a background rooted in nonprofit membership organizations and academic research, I bring strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills to mission-driven work that connects professionals and drives impact across communities.
