Roundtable meeting with Hossam Allam, Founder of Cairo Angels.

Cairo Angels is Egypt’s first angel investor network. Since its inception in early 2012, its 50 or so members have invested – or made binding commitments to do so – nearly USD 1 million in 8 companies. Cairo Angels is not a fund or pool, each angel makes an individual investment decision, and collectively pockets of angels will typically invest EGP 250,000 (USD 36,000) to EGP 1 million (USD 145,000) per company in return for equity. Though Cairo Angels’ portfolio so far centers mostly on the tech space, the network aims to invest across multiple sectors with an appetite for highly scalable concepts.
