Mostafa Kandil is Founder & CEO of Egypt based transport app Swvl, a premium mass transit system. He co-managed a Rocket Internet-backed e-commerce start-up, Carmudi, in the Philippines, as part of a management team of only 3. He grew the company from 25 to 40 employees, expanded operations to 2 other cities in the Philippines, increased sales by 25%, content collection by 60% and launched an Android app. He then restructured Otlob's operations, increasing efficiency by more than 370% over, causing a potential cost reduction of 35%-40% of overall business expenses. Following that, he launched Careem Turkey, led an Egypt expansion project (Mansoura, Tanta, Damanhour and Hurghada) with only 4 days of planning and led a Pakistan expansion project (Faisalabad, Hyderabad and Peshawar) and eventually got awarded the High Achiever award. After that, he started his journey at Swvl. Swvl connects commuters with a network of high-quality buses, through a mobile app that offers various types of payments. In 2 years, Swvl is operating in 3 countries, 6 cities; Egypt; Cairo & Alexandria, Kenya; Nairobi & finally in Pakistan; Lahore, Karachi & Islamabad, planning to expand into many more by 2020.
