Y. Tarek Farouki is a Co-Founder and Managing Partner of AFI Partners, a private equity firm based in New York that makes control and non-control investments in small and middle market companies undergoing change. AFI targets opportunities in which its deep operational, financial and legal experience provides a valuable resource to company management and employees. AFI creates value in its investments by partnering with all company constituents to drive growth and improvement across organizations. Mr. Farouki currently serves as a member of the Board of Directors of WTL Holdings, LLC, HII-Finance, Corp., and Bristol International Compressors, Inc. Previously, he served on the Boards of Waterloo Holdings, Inc., Waterloo Industries, Inc., and several entities in the Alvogen Group of companies. Prior to co-founding AFI, Mr. Farouki was at Perry Capital where he co-managed the private equity strategy for the firm, with a focus on acquiring debt and equity ownership in middle-market industrial companies. Mr. Farouki was at Perry for five years, and while there, he served on the Boards of Republic Engineered Products, Inc. and LaRoche Industries, Inc. From 1999 to 2001, Mr. Farouki acted as an independent consultant on various investment projects, including advising clients securing financing from the International Finance Corporation, the private investment arm of the World Bank. Previously, Mr. Farouki worked as an associate in the New York office of Kirkland & Ellis LLP, where he advised the law firm’s clients on matters, including general corporate activities, private equity transactions, debt financing, and security offerings. Mr. Farouki earned his A.B. in History and Literature, magna cum laude, from Harvard College and a J.D., cum laude, from Harvard Law School.
